CALM Regional Hands-On Skill Weekend: Bay Area

Get the continuing education credits and the hands-on skills you want, without long travel and expensive lodging!

We’re skipping awards ceremonies, business meetings and expensive travel! We are focusing on topics that matter most in midwifery continuing education to include interactive learning and connecting with our community and educators in person.

Join us in the Bay Area as we kickoff our CALM Regional Workshops Pilot.

Speakers include:

Silke Akerson, CPM, LDM
Melissa Cheyney, PhD, CPM, LDM
Rosanna Davis, LM, CPM, BS
Courtney L. Everson, PhD
Nkem Ndefo, MA, RN, CNM

You spoke, we listened! Topics designed to advance the skills you said you’d like the most in supporting the best possible client care, including:

  • How’s the Baby Doing? – A Midwifery Model of Fetal Surveillance
  • Risk Assessment

  • Trauma- and Resilience-Informed Care

  • Your vision for quality care plan to optimize client experiences for California families -- a facilitated workshop

Each presenter and their presentation has been carefully vetted to ensure the materials, teaching methods, case studies, and approaches are inclusive of both midwives of color and families of color. CALM is actively working to seek a diverse group of trainers as well as mentor future trainers to disseminate our knowledge widely across the community of California midwives. The California Association of Midwives recognizes the contributions that midwives of color make to the improvement of prematurity rates, infant mortality rates, breastfeeding rates, and maternal mental health for families within California. We recognize the dedication midwives of color have to their clients who often live in underserved, marginalized, and disenfranchised communities.  California Association of Midwives is committed to furthering the professional development of midwives and students of color. We are pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships for the 2019 Conference. Contact Jocelyn at membership@calmidwives.org for details.

** 16 continuing education credits applied for. Watch here for updates on final CEUs awarded.
